I can ride but that’s it

I rode in today which was so nice after using the van all week. I’m still sore but pedalling is OK. I did a family shop at Sainsbury’s and met James and Jemma with their six week old bundle of joy. James can’t race as he’s ill which puts my injury into perspective.  My pains…

Disappointingly slow

I fit a computer to record all my commuter mileage remembering that the last time I had a computer on my old Kona Kula  my average was 16mph, it is currently under 15mph. Is it my age, the fact that all my trips have been short, or is it the 41lb weight of the bike…

Welcome back to work!

We’ve enjoyed over two weeks of easy, even social, commuting. Not so today! No Christmas cheer, no New Years greetings, just pure British driving aggression. Oh Joy of Joys, I woke this morning in the pitch black knowing that summer is on the way. We have started to see the nights getting shorter. Always look on the bright side of life. Whilst my foot still hurts I have found that riding is not just possible but easy. I was out…

Accident and the invisible cyclist

I had another excuse today: lifts, and lots of them. With all this driving around town I had a first hand chance to see how invisible cyclists are. It was pouring with rain last night and I was following a cyclist down Lyndhurst Road. I was just behind him as he entered the roundabout by…

Night ride

Night ride is overstating it but I did ride home over the Downs. The shop to home off road involves a climb up to Cissbury and the subsequent down hill. I can think of worse commutes. Not far but it keeps the legs going and does keep the power up. I wanted to test one…
